The American dream consists of a house with a fence, a dog, and a beautiful family. For a first time home buyer, that can feel like a fairly easy task. At least I believed it would be an easy transition. This blog will follow me in my effort to become a first time home buyer. From the day I attempt to become approved for a loan, to closing day. This series will also take a look at current home owners and what things they feel are important but often over looked areas of real estate.
Most professional can relate; the day you transition from a student to a full time employee, is typically one with many hurdles you must jump to feel comfortable. Those hurdles can be student loans, not finding a job immediately after college, wanting to start a family but not being sure where the right place to lay roots is for for you. All very important things to consider, however all of these hurdles can be avoided with one tip. Save your money. As simple as it sounds it can be the most difficult part about this transition.
The first thing I wanted to do after being hired by 605 Real Estate was to own property. I will be the first to tell you, I am in over my head. One thing I can pass on to anyone looking to buy a home for the first time is to be patient, and have trust in the agent and brokerage you are working with. I am very lucky to work for one the the premiere real estate brokerages in South Dakota. So the trust was already accounted for. But the patience is where my problems will start. Nothing screams success more than owning a home. But owning before you’re ready can’t prolong your journey to become comfortable.

Home is where you are most comfortable. What are you willing to sacrifice to have that luxury?
